This sub-direction deals with the organization, promotion, coordination, execution and evaluation of activities related to the importance and the need of conserving and restoring tropical forest.

These actions are directed to students, teachers, children, visitors, communities near CERF, volunteers and supporters.

These activities are grouped in the following areas

• Information
• Environmental education
• Extension
• Volunteers

The MCL is an organization that works to improve the conditions of deforested areas dedicated to productive activities around CERF. In some cases, natural regeneration is the best solution, however some times it is necessary to reforest as a way of ecosystem restoration.
In support of reforestation in these areas the MCL has developed tree nurseries to produce native species of plants. This allows the establishments of connection between forest fragments.
This type of projects have been developed in:

• San Luis Monteverde
• Santa Elena High school
• La Tigra, tree nursery

Educational activities are carried out in different sectors of CERF, and in local public and private schools, to complement and enhance the acquired knowledge in the classrooms. This makes the acquisition of knowledge on tropical forest enjoyable. CERF has special places suitable for activities of environmental education. Some of this places are:
