This subdirection deals with the protection and
the management of natural resources in the Children's Eternal
Rain Forest (CERF) and its area of influence.
Objectives
- To
prevent and control poaching.
- To
prevent squatting events and file police reports, when necessary,
when squatters exist in protected areas.
- To
receive and inform CERF's visitors in our field stations.
- To
coordinate the protection of the natural resources with other
bordering conservation institutions.
- To
facilitate training of our personnel as well as for other members
of bordering conservation organizations.
- To
develop activities for the integration of our personnel and other
bordering institutions to the protection program.
- To
generate resources to the development of activities and projects
related to the protection of natural resources.
Activities
- Control patrols and surveillance (forest guard
work).
- Workshops for personnel training.
- Joint
inspections with other organizations.
- Special missions in conjunction with the Guardia
Rural (rural guard), OIJ (Organization of judicial investigation)
and MINAE (Ministry of environmental and energy).
- Support of research projects -Species monitoring.
- File
infractions of the forestry and wildlife laws.
- Administrative evictions within CERF.
- Participation in lawsuits relating to CERF.
- Coordination and monitoring of management projects.
- Environmental services payments.
- Field stations.
- Infrastructure maintenance.
- Maintenance of property borders, fences, roads and
trails.
- Trail
and road signing.
- Provide informative and educational talks.
