Research

Natural science and social research are two of the Monteverde Conservation League’s interests. During the last 20 years we have been supported both by local and international researchers. The MCL has defined five areas of priority for research projects, which are: clean water resources, species monitoring, climate change, economic and social impact of the creation of the BEN on neighboring communities, and impacts of reforestation projects.
Studies on the following have been carried out in the BEN:

  • Experimentation in forest restoration
  • Species counts
  • Reforestation using native species
  • The ecology of threatened species
  • Forest fragmentation
  • Geographic Information

Investigation Resources Available

The MCL Enforces Regulations Concerning:

  • Investigation Permits
  • Collections, films, photographs, and recordings
  • Scholarships/ Funding
  • Intellectual Property
